Get your hands on the fearless new Python Cutter, designed in secret by the Iron Star Company to combat VEGA.
  — Event Store

The Python Cutter is a Tier 5 hull with extra defensive capability in the form of armor slots and health bonuses.

As a cutter, this ship has fair durability and superior forward speed, suitable for rushing into enemy formations.

Strategy[ | ]

Advantages[ | ]

The Merc Python Cutter will provide your fleets with the speed they need to chase down fleeing threats. With bonus armor health, this hull will cut through enemy lines with ease.
  — Sybil

The Python Cutter is incredibly durable as a cutter. It can reliably destroy opposing battleship and destroyer fleets by surviving long enough to get close and deal damage. The damage resistance of Skirmish Armor enables this ship to shrug off Vector Torpedo barrages with ease.

This ship also excels in close range combat when equipped with Unstable Reactor, acting like a suicide bomb and dealing massive damage to nearby enemies upon destruction. It is almost impossible to escape the blast radius because of the cutter's high forward speed.

Disadvantages[ | ]

Python Cutters only have 3 weapon slots, so while they may win due to their larger health pool, they also take quite a long time to destroy enemy ships.

This ship only has 1 special slot, which is almost always occupied by thrusters, leaving no room for weapon boosts.

When equipped with Unstable Reactor, Basilisk Cutters with Armored Thrusters gain a 20 m/s advantage in forward speed, potentially allowing them to run away. Python Cutters also have a harder time catching up to enemy kiting fleets, and may be eventually destroyed if not upgraded enough for the stasis resistance.

Trivia[ | ]

  • The specifications to this ship, shown in the image below, were leaked nearly two weeks before the event started. The leaked statistics turned out to be accurate.
  • The Python Cutter used to have a slower maximum speed but much higher acceleration. Other cutters would take about three seconds, which gave this ship a head start in combat.
  • The original appearance of the Python Cutter resembled a bulkier Gharial Cutter.
  • All player ships had their Resurgence values modified as a result of the late February 2020 update.
  • The repair time of all Tier 5-6 ships was standardized in the early February 2021 update.
