General

The Phase Drain Buffer is a Pharmakon-Exclusive Special that reduces the drain rate of Phase Screens, at the cost of a longer Phase Charge time.

Note that this special can be stacked with as other specials that affect Phase Drain and/or Phase Charge, including itself.

Strategy and Setup

Advantages

The Antithesis to the Phase Charge Relay, the Phase Drain Buffer reduces the drain rate of Phase screens, allowing ships to remain in Phased State for a much longer time. This gives players more time to position their ships and thus outmaneuver their opponents before the Phase wears off.

Disadvantages

The Charge Rate of Phase Screens is reduced (even to a larger degree), thus Pharmakon Hulls are also somewhat more vulnerable, as they will take longer to enter Phase State with this special.

Trivia

• The Phase Drain buffer does the opposite of the Phase Charge Relay, decreasing Phase Screen Drain at the cost of a lower Charge Rate.
• The Phasing revamp during early November 2019 drastically reduced the nominal Phase Charge/Drain modifiers of Phase Drain Buffer because their effects now stack across the whole fleet instead of just a single ship.
