Galaxies

Galaxies are the largest dividing block in the VEGA Conflict universe. They are generally considered as separate because fleets are unable to warp between them. You can, however, relocate your outpost between galaxies once every 24 hours, and send instant messages across them via the subspace connection.

List of galaxies:

  • Galaxy 00, also called the Betas. Its alternative name stems from the game's beta testing days, as this was the only galaxy that existed back then. This galaxy contains the Residential Sectors 100 through 600.
  • Galaxy 01, containing the Residential Sectors 1100 through 1600.
  • Galaxies 02 through 08, similar to Galaxy 01. They no longer exist as of the writing of this text.
  • Galaxy 12, containing the Residential Sectors 12100 through 12600, was originally exclusive to Central/South America.
  • Galaxy 13, containing the Residential Sectors 13100 through 13600, was originally exclusive to East Asia. It no longer exists as of the writing of this text.
  • Negative versions of each galaxy, which acts as a repository for the outposts of inactive players.

Galaxies are often abbreviated as Xk (e.g. 1k for galaxy 01) because they represent a collection of sectors with the same thousands digit.

From a technical standpoint, each galaxy represents a map server for the game. As such, the number of galaxies is closely tied to that of players. A prime example is Alien Armageddon, when KIXEYE closed down multiple servers to cut costs due to the lack of players.

Sectors

Each galaxy is further divided into sectors. All fleets can travel between sectors in the same galaxy via Wormholes. Moreover, Wormhole Drives can be used to quickly travel between distant points, albeit with a lengthy cooldown.

The coordinate system for the Sector Map is Sector, x, y. Both x and y range between 0 and 800 (900 for the Residential Sectors, 1000 for the Pharmakon sectors). Anything beyond that is considered as "Deep Space" (not to be confused with the term that refers to a network of sectors that are connected to the Residential Sector via various wormholes), which is inaccessible.

List of sectors for every galaxy G:

  • Sectors G100-G600, collectively known as the Residential Sectors, which contain Xeno Grind Targets and below, including VSec Active and Supply Run fleets.
  • Sector G700 (HYP), the Hypergate or AXIS Sector, which contains A.X.I.S. Grind Targets plus overflow targets from other events.
  • Sector G900 (PHA), the Pharmakon Sector, which contains Pharmakon Grind Targets.
  • Sector 1G000 (UMB), the Umbra Sector, which contains Umbra Grind Targets.
  • Sector 2G000 (ALT), the Altairian Sector, which contains Altairian Grind Targets.
  • Sector 3G000 (VOI), the Marauder Sector, which contains Marauder Grind Targets.
  • Sector 4G000 (AXI), the AXIS Activity Sector, which contains various NPC targets depending on the event.
  • Sector 5G000 (PHA), the Pharmakon Activity Sector, which contains various NPC targets depending on the event.
  • Sector 6G000 (UMB), the Umbra Activity Sector, which contains various NPC targets depending on the event.
  • Sector 7G000 (ALT), the Altairian Activity Sector, which contains various NPC targets depending on the event.
  • Sector 8G000 (VOI), the Marauder Activity Sector, which contains various NPC targets depending on the event.
  • Sector 10G000 (AW), the Alliance War Sector, which contains NPC targets for Alliance War.

For example, the AXIS Activity Sector for galaxy 01 is sector 401000.

NPC fleets in sector space travel towards Wormholes. NPC outposts, on the other hand, remain stationary until despawned.

Residential Sectors

Residential Sectors get their name because planets, the only accommodation for player outposts, are unique to them. It is also the repository of grind targets between Tier 1 (Miner Rebellion) and Tier 6 (Xeno Division).

Each residential sector of code S is made up of five solar systems. Each solar system contains five planets that rotate around a central Main Sequence Star; these planets are grouped together as follows: S01-S05, S06-S10, S11-S15, S16-S20 and S21-S25.

The layout of each Residential Sector is unique within the same galaxy.

  • 5 Wormholes, each connecting to one of the other Residential Sectors.
  • 1 Wormhole to the AXIS Sector.

AXIS Sector

Also called the Hypergate sector (according to the wormhole leading into that sector), this sector primarily serves as a hub that links the Residential Sector with various grind sectors. It is also the repository of grind targets for A.X.I.S. Hulls.

Alliance War Sector

This sector replaces the Marauder Activity Sector while Alliance War is active. It has a very similar layout as the Unstable Sector except with only three exit wormholes.

Planets

Planets are the starting point for new players because they contain various low-level NPC Targets that help them to progress forward.

The coordinate system for the Planet Map is Planet, Longitude, Altitude. Longtitude ranges between 0 and 360, while Altitude ranges between 0 and 150. The use of Longtitude is technically incorrect because everything on the map orbits around the planet, as indicated by the visuals.

As you may have noticed, planets are typically full of player outposts. The maximum number of outposts per planet is believed to be in the hundreds.

You can find low-level cargo and crafting fleets spawning from Resource Fields. While Helium-3 and Mineral Ore Resource Fields are scattered everywhere, Antimatter Resource Fields can only be found near Alien Artifacts, which are located at longitudes 90 and 270.

These low-level fleets head towards the nearest VEGA Processing Complexes, which are located at longitudes 45, 135, 225 and 315.

Trivia

  • NPC fleets are presumed to have warped to a sector inaccessible to the players after reaching the destination Wormhole as they fail to appear on the other side from the player's perspective.
  • Originally, fleets that spawn from planets into sector space appear in the middle of VEGA Processing Complexes in-planet; they may be attacked during this phase.
  • Residential Sectors were previously the main setting of Tier 4-5 Feature Events.
  • During Alien Decimation and Decimation, some NPC fleets instead traveled in the opposite direction: from Wormholes to planets. However, they are likewise nowhere to be seen after entering planetary orbit.
  • During the 20th Alliance War, the Alliance War sector 10G000 spawned at the current location of the Marauder Sector, with exit wormholes leading directly to the Hypergate Sector.
  • The "Empty Space" that NPC outposts spawn around in Residential Sectors originally contained temporary wormholes to one of the below sectors:
