Ablative Tungsten Armor is a form of armor that provides a new form of defense that replaces Shields in the form of Ablation. It can only be equipped to an Ablation slot and NOT an armor slot. It is also restricted to the Umbra.

EN, EX and KI Ablative Tungsten Armors are advanced versions which provide additional Ablative Recovery from the corresponding damage type being dealt to enemy ships.

Strategy and Setup[ | ]

Advantages[ | ]

Ablative Tungsten Armor provides shield-like protection, except that dealing damage to opponents enables the recovery of Ablative Health lost in combat: the more damage dealt, the more health regained.

Elemental Ablative Tungsten Armor improves the survivability of ships that are armed with weapons of the respective damage type because it vastly increases the rate at which they regain Ablative Health.

Due to the fact that damage to health increases tenfold (from 10% DPS to 100% DPS) when the target loses all of its Ablative Health, and that Ablative Recovery is based on damage to health, your Ablative Recovery rate is increased by tenfold when this happens, resulting in a near-automatic win. Against similar opponents, it is extremely important that you maximize the amount of Ablative Health you have, so that the enemy will lose their Ablative Health before you do.

Disadvantages[ | ]

Ablative Tungsten Armor can only fit on an Ablation slot, and does not fit on any other slots on ships in the ship factory. Ablative Tungsten Armor is also restricted to the Umbra.

Elemental Ablative Tungsten Armor only adds extra Ablative Recovery to a single damage type. Coupled with higher mass, this is only efficient when the ship in question uses weapons that deal the same damage type.

Trivia[ | ]

The Ablative Tungsten Armor is the first piece of equipment to fit on the Ablation slot. It is the new defense hinted by DevLeonis with respect to the Umbra faction.
This item originally enjoyed twice the listed armor mass reduction from upgraded Wraith Cruisers; this has been fixed in the update of August 2018.
Elemental Ablative Tungsten Armor provides the same health and general Ablative Recovery as Ablative Tungsten Armor III, with additional mass to compensate.
Strangely, the Blight version does not use the damage type abbreviation (BL) in its name; instead it uses the full name.
Its repair time was nullified as a result of the late September 2020 update, which updated the repair time of all Tier 7 ships to be invariant to equipment.
