General[edit | edit source]
The Bombardment Torpedo is a medium-range Explosive weapon with great splash damage, restricted to Xeno Division Hulls or better.
It fires a couple of fast-moving torpedos in quick succession with a short reload between each volley.
The Heavy Bombardment Torpedo is a powerful version of the Bombardment Torpedo, with improved damage and mass efficiency.
The Xeno Bombardment Torpedo is an advanced version of the Bombardment Torpedo that deals Alien Damage, taking on a green coloration.
Strategy and Setup[edit | edit source]
Advantages[edit | edit source]
Bombardment Torpedoes have a small minimum range that is almost impossible to exploit. Their damage output is pretty good for an Explosive-based weapon, with the ability to multiply that damage for each additional enemy caught in the blast radius.
The weapon's high fire rate makes it desirable as an anti-squadron weapon, clearing them out regularly. Its large AoE also enables it to damage squadrons as they launch.
Disadvantages[edit | edit source]
Unless equipped with Volatile Fuel, the torpedoes travel relatively slowly and can be easily dodged by Pegasi equipped with Binary Thrusters. They also fail to hit fast ships like Alien Reapers and cutters that are traveling perpendicular to the shots.
This weapon has the lowest available range out of all A.X.I.S. Ship Weapons, unless it is equipped on Pegasi with Pierian Fuel. Any ships equipped with only this weapon are especially vulnerable to battleship kiting as a result.
The Xeno version is less mass-efficient and does less DPS compared to Xeno Cluster Missiles which function similarly. Its Alien Damage is also readily resisted by Xeno Division Hulls and A.X.I.S. Hulls.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The number of shots per volley differs by level: 2, 2, 3, 3 for levels 1, 2, 3, 4 respectively.
- The Bombardment Torpedo and its variants received a massive buff as they were deemed too weak. More details here.
- The Xeno variant of this weapon is no longer available to Umbra hulls after the late April 2019 update to facilitate the rock-paper-scissors system between T7 factions. Existing items will be replaced by Blight Nova Missile in the May 2019 update.
- Along with other T6.5 equipment, this item's build time was significantly reduced during the late April 2019 update as summarized here.
