Void Thonian Armor is a Marauder version of the Umbra Thonian Armor, that also boosts ablative recovery.

Strategy and Setup[ | ]

Advantages[ | ]

Like the Umbra versions, Void Thonian Armor increases Ablative Recovery without also increasing the Damage Threshold, allowing ships to regenerate more Ablative Health for the same damage output and thus improving their survivability.

Disadvantages[ | ]

Unlike Fused Armor and Void Resonant Armor, this armor does not provide any Void resistance. This heavily impacts T7B Marauder ships because not only is their health resistance based on this, but also their ablative armor resistance.

The extra Ablative Recovery given by Void Thonian Armor is not that important if you are fighting against other Umbra or T7B Marauder ships, since the outcome of the battle is mainly determined by which side loses all of its Ablative Health first. Even if you max out your ships with Thonian Armor, it won't reverse the tide of battle as long as the opponent is getting 10x Ablative Recovery by directly damaging your health.

While Thonian Armor III does give extra Ablative Recovery, keep in mind that it is significantly less mass-efficient than the level II version.

Trivia[ | ]

  • Its repair time was nullified as a result of the late September 2020 update, which updated the repair time of all Tier 7 ships to be invariant to equipment.
