General[edit | edit source]
The Regeneration Converter is an Altairian Special that confers shield recharge on ships with shields, in exchange for less shield energy reserves.
Note that in the case of shields that have innate Recharge ability, the shield's Recharge Delay is applied instead. For example, if you equip this special with a Strike Shield, the Recharge Delay is 5 seconds instead of 10 seconds.
Strategy and Setup[edit | edit source]
Advantages[edit | edit source]
The Regeneration Converter is able to significantly increase the effectiveness of Shields on the ship it is equipped on, by granting them the ability to recharge mid battle similar to the Diffuser Shield, Blast Shield or Repulsor Shield.
Skilled pilots will be more likely to keep their shields in battle if they are able to successfully weave in and out of combat by dealing damage and then retreating to allow their shields to recharge, thus greatly reducing the amount of damage taken.
Disadvantages[edit | edit source]
The Regeneration Converter decreases the Shield Energy Reserves of the shields on the ship that it is equipped to, meaning that ships with this special are more likely to have their shields depleted much faster as compared to ships without this special.
Thus, this special is not suited to blitz combat where ships are definitely likely to take damage.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The Regeneration Converter is the first special to grant the ability to recharge shields in battle.
