The Leviathan Dreadnought is the first Tier 8 dreadnought. It belongs to the Umbra faction and focuses on offensive firepower.

It has an operations slot that, when equipped with a jump drive, allows it to attach multiple escorts and jump across sectors much like a Sector Flagship. However, unlike them, equipping a jump drive is purely optional, adding more flexibility to the ship build.

Note that Tier 8 ships have a fixed repair time which is not affected by equipment.

Strategy and Setup[edit | edit source]

Advantages[edit | edit source]

The Leviathan, unlike Tier 7 dreadnoughts, can fire regular weapons at long range. Combined with its dual firing arc, this enables it to rain down devastation from afar. It also has much better acceleration and turning capabilities that make it more maneuverable. It also has more armor and defense slots than any of the Tier 7 dreadnoughts, making the ship more durable.

The Incapacitate overdrive is straightforward to trigger and can lock down entire enemy fleets, making them easy prey for the Leviathan.

The Leviathan also has a defensive-offensive ability (Onslaught) which fires a missile barrage from a whopping 12 km range whenever the ship takes 2,000 damage. Considering that the Leviathan can reach over 400k health at Mk VI, this can potentially trigger hundreds of times, allowing the ship to snipe enemies at the cost of relatively minor damage.

The fixed repair time mechanic of Tier 8 allows it to equip wormhole drives such as the Wormhole Drive DS-1 without suffering from massive repair time.

A well known fit is to put as many Blight Horde Cannons as possible on them, as they have both a small amount of spread and a longer range than other weapons. Astral Drivers are also a good option, due to their very long range.

Disadvantages[edit | edit source]

The Leviathan has a fixed repair time of 8 hours, which is longer than Tier 7 dreadnoughts in general. However, the extra potential health should more than make up for that.

Incapacitate, while great at PvE, tends to be less useful at PvP because the only other player fleets the Leviathan can normally attack are other dreadnought fleets, which are often comprised of only 1-2 ships.

Onslaught does not benefit from the Leviathan's DPS bonus and thus is relatively underpowered. It also does not benefit from the Incapacitate overdrive, so don't rely on it to slow down enemy ships.
