General[ | ]

The Infernal AP Driver is a heavily-modified AP Driver with a massive buff to damage but suffers a reduction in range. It can only be equipped on Demon Corps Hulls.

Strategy and Setup[ | ]

Advantages[ | ]

Infernal AP Drivers have incredible damage output which can be further increased by piercing multiple targets. They are most effective against blitzing ships which are often relatively close to each other. They can also devastate bases by targeting the closest module in range; the projectiles will pierce through the primary target and damage others behind it until they reach maximum range.

Disadvantages[ | ]

This weapon suffers a significant range penalty compared to the regular version, making them unsuitable on long-ranged but slow ships such as destroyers and battleships. They are best used on frigates, which have the ability to kite lesser-ranged ships but enough mobility to catch up to the aforementioned long-range ships.

Infernal AP Drivers also miss just as often as the normal AP Driver, and are unreliable against frigates which dodge most of the projectiles on auto mode. Their minimum range makes them vulnerable to blitz ships like cutters, but this only happens when the enemy moves all their ships inside it, consequently allowing your other ships (which should be spread out) to pierce multiple targets at once.

Infernal AP Drivers share many properties with the Infernal Gatling Ray, but the latter has shorter build time, more base damage and no minimum range, therefore it is more preferred in close combat; Infernal AP Driver users should focus on medium- to long-range combat instead.

Trivia[ | ]

  • The Infernal AP Driver appears identical to AP Driver I-III.
  • The Infernal AP Driver's fusion recipes were made available in-game by accident. They were subsequently removed in the following update.
  • It is unknown why the Infernal AP Driver wasn't released into the game. Most likely it is due to the horrendous refit times of infernal Weapons that made them unpopular among most players.
