General[edit | edit source]
The Twinfire Beam is a devastating Energy weapon that fires beams in quick succession. It is restricted to Xeno Division Hulls or better.
It fires two solid yellow beams at a time with relatively short charge and reload.
The Heavy Twinfire Beam is a powerful version of the Twinfire Beam, with improved damage and mass efficiency.
The Xeno Twinfire Beam is an advanced version of the Twinfire Beam that has built-in range increase and deals Alien Damage, taking on a green coloration.
Strategy and Setup[edit | edit source]
Advantages[edit | edit source]
Twinfire Beams deal massive damage that is both undodgeable and unblockable, enabling your ships to reliably destroy targeted ships.
The Xeno version does not require range extenders; regardless, most people equip Harmonic Xeno Beam Capacitors to boost their damage output.
Disadvantages[edit | edit source]
Twinfire Beams have low range even with Beam Capacitors equipped; they are not recommended on battleships designed for PvP as they can be easily outranged by those with Eclipse Drivers. They are best used on cutters designed to close the distance and open fire as soon as possible.
Twinfire Beams receive less benefit from Beam Capacitor-type specials compared to Rupture Beams because they have a shorter charge time.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Despite its description, this weapon does not actually fire alternating beams as it would have been too difficult to code in.
- The Twinfire Beam and its variants received a massive buff as they were deemed too weak. More details here.
- The Xeno variant of this weapon is no longer available to Umbra hulls after the late April 2019 update to facilitate the rock-paper-scissors system between T7 factions. Existing items will be replaced by Blight Havoc Cannon in the May 2019 update.
- Along with other T6.5 equipment, this item's build time was significantly reduced during the late April 2019 update as summarized here.
