General[edit | edit source]
The Gladius Driver Turret is a Gladius Driver suited for base defense. It is a popular long-range defense amongst medium-level players.
It fires a blocky white slug that is very similar to the ship version.
Strategy and Setup[edit | edit source]
Advantages[edit | edit source]
Gladius Driver Turrets are excellent against sniper fleets. While they have a shorter range than Kinetic Driver Turrets, their projectile speed and proximity detonation makes them much more reliable at hitting targets.
Gladius Driver Turrets are also fairly lightweight, allowing your Combat Modules to hold more armor and shields.
They have quite low XP compared to the other VEGA Mining Base Weapons, restricting the range of enemy fleets that can attack your base.
Disadvantages[edit | edit source]
Like most Kinetic turrets, they are vulnerable to blitz attacks due to their large minimum range and lack of firepower. Their projectile speed is not enough to reliably hit targets at maximum range without adding Iridium Arrays.
It is recommended to put these turrets next to short range turrets such as Tachyon Beam Turrets so that they complement each other's weaknesses, allowing your base to defend well against both types of base attacks.
