The Taipan Cutter is a Tier 3 hull with advanced Miner Rebellion technology.

As a cutter, this ship has fair durability and superior forward speed, suitable for rushing into enemy formations.

Strategy and Setup

Advantages

Taipan Cutters have very high forward speed like that of other cutters. This enables them to catch every other ship as well as flee from battle should they be faced against upgraded cruisers that deal bonus damage to cutters.

Unlike frigates, cutters have poor strafe speed and a narrow firing arc, making them unsuitable for kiting. However, they are much better armored, allowing them to survive much longer against battleships as well as destroyers.

Disadvantages

Taipan Cutters, while stronger overall, may lose to frigates in a skirmish if they do not use homing weapons, since frigates can easily dodge most of the projectiles and mitigate damage. If your ships get too close, frigates can outpace your turning speed and manuever behind them, preventing you from focus-firing one ship at a time.

Cutters are most suitable for blitz attacks due to their forward speed. However, this also means fighting the enemy head-on and incurring lots of damage to your own fleet. As a result, cutters are seldom used for farming. Most players instead opt for kiting tactics using frigates or battleships.
