The Oligarchs have developed their own version of the Cavalier Cutter, taking on a red color scheme instead. These Cavalier Cutters are very similar to the ones obtainable by players, but lack innate resistance to Alien and Plasma damage.

Before the release of the player version during Invasion, these Cavalier Cutters had no overdrive.

Now, they appear with their Catalyst Overdrive in all current Altairian targets (Altairian Vanguards and Altairian Regiments).

Strategy

NPC Cavalier Cutters always utilize a single Epsilon ECHO Cannon (Plasma on the Mk V).

They are a priority target especially on the Vanguards because they deal quite a bit of damage with their chaining but are relatively fragile. Take them out to quickly diminish the enemy's firepower.

Spread your ships out to avoid additional damage caused by the Chain effect of the Cavalier Cutter's weapons. Squadrons are fairly useful as meat shields because Chain weapons automatically bounce onto the nearest target. Counter Chain technologies are particularly effective at protecting the rest of your fleet from damage.

Bastion Cruisers directly counter them, having a damage boost against all cutters that increases as they are upgraded.

If brute force is not an option, an alternative strategy is to use cruisers to attract the attention of these ships, allowing carriers and destroyers to destroy them from a safe distance without having to worry about the Chain effect.

Don't even bother running from Cavalier Cutters; they will enter firing range before you even finish turning around.

Trivia

• The Oligarch Cavalier Cutter first appeared in Contact event fleets, prior to the release of the Herald version.
• The Cutters seems to resemble the Templar Archives from Starcraft II, or a Covenant Destroyer.
• Along with other T7A Oligarch ships before the Renascence Battlecruiser, this ship has received identical resistances to Nebula Fields as its Herald counterpart in the early April 2019 update. They used to have no damage resistances.
