The Deflector Shell is a ship shield that is highly resistant to Kinetic Damage, but takes increased damage from other sources. It can only be used on Altairian Hulls.

Note that its Recharge ability is useless upon losing shields.

Strategy and Setup[edit | edit source]

Advantages[edit | edit source]

Like the Spectral Shell and Shockwave Shell, Deflector Shells have excellent shield energy and mass efficiency, even greater than that of the Harmonic Exophase Shield. They have a very low repair to health ratio unlike earlier shields and are therefore viable on low-repair ships.

The Deflector Shell is also able to recharge its energy, affording an extra layer of protection in combat if the player is able to prevent his shields from being depleted.

Disadvantages[edit | edit source]

Deflector Shells recharge much more slowly compared to other shields like the Repulsor Shield, meaning that the player's ships are more vulnerable to repeated attacks, which will have a higher chance of fully depleting the player's shields.

Deflector Shells have negative resistance to other damage types, making them vulnerable against non-Energy damage, especially Alien and Plasma damage, which are extremely common in Alien Event Targets.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Hulls with active Deflector Shells glow light-blue, similar to the Deflector Shield.
  • This is the only Altairian Shell to have a recharging ability.
  • The Deflector Shell was granted immunity to Kinetic Nebula Fields in the late April 2019 update.
  • Deflector Shell has received immunity to Alien and Plasma Nebula Fields in the early November 2019 update.
