The Anodized, Skirmish and Hardened Resistors combine two Basic Ship Resistors to protect against two damage types at once. It can only be equipped on the Punisher, Guardian, Bastion and Wraith Cruisers.

Strategy and Setup[edit | edit source]

Advantages[edit | edit source]

Hybrid resistors are twice as mass efficient than individually equipping two basic resistors. They also have no repair time and actually increase the repair efficiency of your cruisers as the added resistance effectively grants extra armor.

Against Alien Event Targets, Striker targets deal Energy damage, Defense targets deal Explosive damage, while Outpost targets deal Kinetic damage. Assign your hybrid resistors accordingly.

In PvP, most players mix two different hybrid resistors (the second resistor slot is generally unlocked at Mk IV) to gain coverage against all three traditional damage types: Energy, Explosive, Kinetic, specializing in one of the damage types (which is overlapped).

Disadvantages[edit | edit source]

Hybrid resistors lack Alien and Plasma resistance and cannot defend against advanced weaponry such as the Xeno Disintegrator Cannon and Tracer Missile, which may show up in both PvE and PvP.

If you expect your fleet to only suffer from a single damage type, then basic resistors might suit you better as they provide more resistance.

These resistors are restricted to cruisers that are Tier 6 or above. All Tier 7 ships can use resistors that provide special resistances, such as Counter Chain, Counter Pierce and Stasis Resist, which may outweigh the benefit of having multiple damage resistances.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The definition of "anodize" is to coat (a metal, especially aluminium) with a protective oxide layer by an electrolytic process in which the metal forms the anode, which explains its name.
  • The Skirmish Resistor is named after the Skirmish Armor, which also resists Energy and Explosive damage.
  • Hybrid Ship Resistors were originally intended to cost 4%/7%/10% ship mass.
